Jakarta, May 12, 2023. Indonesia’s upskilling platform Cakap, celebrates
its fourth anniversary. In a hybrid format, Cakap emphasizes the message that

Tomy Yunus, CEO &
Co-Founder of Cakap,
stated that this year Cakap wants to emphasize the
importance of equal access to education and training in the current digital
era. “Over the past four years, Cakap has been established as an impactful
platform, specifically supporting personal work skills and overall talent
development towards Indonesia’s golden future,” stated Tomy.

Cakap has made a real impact not only through foreign
language courses but also by addressing issues, such as the lack of quality
training and skill development in remote and underprivileged areas. Based on
Cakap’s survey last year, 9 out of 10 (86.56%) training participants found job
opportunities that match their interests. This proves that education and
personal development are the keys to improving someone’s life.

The Cakap Squad (Employees) and the audience could watch the
event online through a video-sharing platform, because Cakap’s ecosystem,
including teachers and students, is spread across different parts of the
country and even abroad. Cakap has awarded teachers, students, and partners who
have supported the Cakap ecosystem as a synergistic upskilling platform that
has an impact on various socio-economic fields.

As an edtech company recently achieving centaur status (with
a valuation exceeding USD 100 million), Cakap partnered with Yosi Mokalu, a member of Famous Group
Project Pop
, to share concerns and insights about the education world in a
talk show session as part of anniversary celebration. Yosi talked about his
concern for higher education and the importance of providing digital literacy
to Indonesian society. “We live to learn, not just learn to live. Digital
literacy, digital safety, digital ethics, and skills need to be learned.
Indonesian citizens need to be prepared for that,” stated Yosi.

Over the past four years, Cakap has provided
educational benefits to more than three million students through 487 courses on
its platform. To strengthen synergy with the existing learning ecosystem, Cakap
has also empowered over 1,800 teachers for various learning classes, including
Indonesian teachers and teachers from several Asia-Pacific countries such as
the Philippines and China. As a symbol of gratitude for this achievement, Cakap
organized visits to orphanages and non-formal schools. Learning materials in
the form of fun learning sessions and learning aids donations have been
distributed to over 150 children in foundations and non-formal schools in
Jakarta and Yogyakarta as part of the fourth-anniversary celebration from April
to May this year.
